Frequently asked questions

What happens during our session?

A indepth case history will be taken including current and past medical history. We will discuss your treatment plan to ensure both practitioner and patient are working towards the same goal. Following the case history an physical assessment will be taken, which will include movement and hands on testing to allow a diagnosis to be made. The practitioner will explain in depth to the patient what is the presenting complaint and how to proceed.

How many treatments will I need?

This is a very tricky question to answer as it is very much specific to each patient. It is dependent on severity of injury and other factors. Although, most patients improve after 4-6 sessions it does vary from patient to patient.

Will I have side effects after my treatment?

Usually not. Occasionally, however, patients do report some local soreness following treatment, this tends to last for no longer than 48 hours.

Do the needles hurt in acupuncture?

Some patients will feel the needles inserted, but this is a minimal pain. Once the needles are in place, no pain will be felt. The needles used in acupuncture are very thin and strong, each needle is used only once so there is no risk of infection from treatment.
